Dodgers set to acquire Tommy Edman in 3-team trade with Cardinals, White Sox

The Dodgers, White Sox and Cardinals are nearing a three-team deal in which the Dodgers are expected to get Tommy Edman from St. Louis, according to a person with knowledge of the situation but not authorized to speak publicly.

Edman has yet to appear in the majors this year because of an offseason wrist surgery and sprained ankle during rehab work. But he is currently on a minor-league rehab assignment, and could offer the Dodgers versatility in the field (where he plays second base, third base, shortstop and the outfield) and at the plate (as a switch-hitter with slightly better numbers from the left side).

The Dodgers are also getting right-handed reliever Michael Kopech from the White Sox while sending Miguel Vargas to the White Sox and prospects to the Cardinals.

This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
